Sustainability

Sustainable and degradable

Carol Chan, June 2015

Sustainability is the pursuit of a lasting society: one where we treat the earth with care, where there is room for one another, where the business ecosystem is central and where local, sustainable solutions are sought. Starting from the idea that waste equals food, and that the point is to optimise rather than maximise, we help build value and growth in a durable way.

What do we offer?

There are many ways to build sustainability into a business model: sustainable cradle-to-cradle products, waste separation, reduced energy use and carbon neutrality, through to complete business designs based on the circular economy. We are glad to support you in devising and rolling out sustainable strategies, in drawing up the business cases, and in generating the management information, measurement instruments and accountability reports that go with them.

Our approach

Our approach is based on biomimicry. We like to work with you and everyone involved to get to the bottom of what sustainability means here, so that a solution with real support behind it can be implemented. We are glad to share what we know, which is why our approach usually rests on train-the-trainer.

Depending on the assignment we start with a sustainability scan, to get a clear picture of where your organisation stands today. That is not only a matter of facts, but also of the cultural awareness around sustainability and of seeing the full scale of the change ahead. After the scan we produce a report proposing a modular approach to carrying out the work.

That modular approach brings focus, and flexibility with it. Should something change unexpectedly, it can be responded to quickly without having to rework the whole plan. And because the steps are small, support grows visibly, since the quick wins show up early.

Examples

As consultants we have worked in sustainability for years. Projects we have contributed to include:

  • Drawing up a life cycle analysis (LCA) at a capital goods manufacturer.
  • Calculating life cycle costing (LCC) at a meat products manufacturer.
  • Producing the integrated reporting pack for a construction firm.
  • Working out a sustainable strategy for a car dealership.
  • Working out and implementing a sustainable business model for a starting entrepreneur.
  • Setting up sustainable risk management reporting at an infrastructure company.

Other services

Alongside consultancy we also offer masterclasses and programmes in the field of sustainability:

In-company masterclasses on sustainability and enterprise excellence, or sustainability train-the-trainer. Together we put together a programme that fits. Do get in touch for more information.
